When you’re selecting a wiper arm grade, it’s not about good, better and best. It isn’t always easy to anticipate which grade of wiper arm will make the most sense for your particular use.

You’ll need sturdier wiper arms on larger glass due to those long arms and blades which produce greater stress at the pivot connectors and on the tension springs. The curvature of the glass is also an important variable – the farther away from flat you get, the more the arm will “rise and fall” through the sweep motion creating more wear on the wiper arm hinge and tension spring.
The conditions you expect your vessel to be operating under should influence your wiper arm choice too. Obviously, the frequency of wiper use will play a part in its longevity but sometimes, where you expect the wiper systems to be serviced should influence your choice.

A durable wiper arm might be a selling point as a working boat may be serviced in rolling seas.

Selecting the correct wiper arm is a matter of matching the arm to the individual needs of your application by weighing glass geometry, operating and service conditions, and price, of course. But most importantly when it comes to specifying your wiper arms, safety is our bottom line.
